Quiet Time has been Reinstated

Having a four year old son that continued to take naps was quite a blessing. Each day I knew that I would get a two hour break from both of my kids to sit and read, fold laundry, nap or anything else that I needed or wanted to do at home.
Once we jumped into potty training the little one last December, those respites is time became a thing of the past. Once I got both children down for naps after lunch, Annie would holler "I need to go potty!!" Now, I am not one to ignore this voice of warning, so each and every time I ran up the stairs to save her from her imminent wet demise. There were days that she really had to go, even after I had sat her on the potty before putting her in her room. But, there were also times that she had nothing to show for her hollering and she began crying wolf more and more.
By and by, nap time became a thing of the past. I chose not to fight it and just let nature take its course. The consequences of axing nap time have been overwhelming. Cranky kids and cranky mom makes for a long and frustrating day. The patience bucket is no longer low, it has holes in it.
So, from now on, it is quiet time right after lunch. Yesterday was the first time we've tried it and it was like magic. Two sleeping children and a resting mom. Scott wasn't quite sure he came home to the right house. The most improvement will come from Jackson, he needs his down time.

I'm thinking quiet time is under-rated. I love the silence. I love my time and when the selfish me doesn't get my time everyone knows it.

I don't think that anybody ever grows up out of quiet time. Just last week I had to have quiet time when I was in OK. Just to get a break, and bring myself back in.
