We lost a member of our family today. One who has been with us throughout our entire marriage. I feel the need to honor this dear friend through word. This friend, we’ll call “Animal”. One month after Scott and I married, we sought out to fill a missing piece that we felt in our lives. We did not need to search high and low for this missing piece. Scott’s mom had her eye on a solution to our ‘hole’. A neighbor to the Davis family had decided to close a chapter in their lives and needed to pass the blessing on that they had cherished for over eight years. This blessing is what we came to lovingly call Animal.
Animal went with us everywhere we went. Camping, work, movies, you name it. Animal was with us when we got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere on our big move from Nevada to Utah over seven years ago. Animal was with us as we went through school. Animal helped us move to Orem, twice, and to our present home. Animal was with us when we rushed to the hospital, after 10 hour of incredible back labor on my part, to deliver our first child, eight hours later. Animal was even with us when we brought our first child home from the hospital. Animal has been a wonderful help to us but Animal does not have a perfect tract record.
Animal left us stranded two hours north when we snapped a clutch cable. Animal was no help to us on one adventure to Nevada and the hood release lever snapped. Animal laughed in our face the moment before the car hood popped up and shattered the windshield as we were merging onto the freeway. Animal has been there to watch my dad and Scott fix numerous CV-axels and perform break jobs, without offering much help. Animal was even with me as I attempted to get my misguided friend into an Institute class, but ended up bagging the spiritual endeavor when the timing belt snapped and I had to call Dad to tow me home.
So after eight wonderfully exciting years with you Animal, we pay our respects and say ‘Goodbye’. We love you Animal and wish you many more adventures. We hope you can bless the next person that has agreed to take you off our hands and hope to never see you again.
If you haven’t guessed who Animal is by now, you really do not know our family!

Let me be the first to offer my deepest symathy for you and your family. I'm so sorry for your loss. We are hoping on doing the same thing here in a month or so but ours hasn't been such a trooper as your "Animal".
Hey I'm in that pic, check out my cute butt!
I offer my condolences. I hope you are able to move on. I know how this can be hard on you and your family.
Yippee! And sadness! Changes are hard but usually good for us. Make sure you introduce us any new addition to your family.
Animal was such an integral part of your family. Your loss must be great! But... Just think of the new pet to take its place! Yahoo!!! No more rattle rides, not more wire holding the hood closed, no more SVC Joints falling apart! Love Momma
. . . need an update . . .
you need to post something new also!
